Beef with broccoli

We love Chinese food. Back in NYC, we used to have so many choices for any kind of food delivery, especially Chinese. Over here, we found one good place and one second choice kind of place. But neither of them deliver!!! Devastating. But it actually turned out to be a good thing. I just make them at home a lot. Probably a lot healthier if you make it to be.

I find this dish extremely dangerous. If you don't have strong willpower and you're on a diet on top of that, avoid making this. I ended up eating so so much. Like I haven't eaten for three days. Beef is so tender, it almost melts in your mouth and the sauce is so silky it dances with rice in your mouth. Hmm..OK, that was way too cheesy. Made my skin crawl.

The first time I made this, I did not have low sodium soy sauce handy. So I used the same amount of regular soy sauce of suggested amount and oh boy..it was so salty!! Do not make that mistake. If you don't have low sodium one, just mix half water and half regular and it turned out just fine in my case. I changed up a couple of things too. Original recipe from Rainydaygal uses flank steak but I used boneless short ribs and it calls for flour in the sauce but I find it not necessary. I actually prefer the consistency of the sauce without it. It would be nice with anything but to me, white rice seemed to be the best 'culinary choice' for this dish. Enjoy the deliciousness!
